Strange Worries

My mind is always full of strange worries, so I have documented a few of my oddest ones for you to be amused by!

1. A lot of the time I seem to send emails late at night but that means I end up sending emails to semi-important people, e.g. lecturers and job applications, at ridiculous times. And I think that when they see an email, entitled 'Job Application' that is sent at 3am they are going to think I'm some strange nocturnal creature.

2. When I am walking down the road and realise I am going to the wrong direction I have to make some elaborate reroute of my journey so the strangers around don't think I'm a crazy person who walks up and down the same road. Well thats what I think anyway...

3. Somehow getting locked in my bathroom when no one is in with no phone. But I guess at least I'll be with the toilet, ha!

4. Whenever I am in the passenger seat of a car I automatically put my feet up on the dashboard but then this worry comes into my head straight away- that the car will stop suddenly and my knees will jerk back into my mouth and knock out all my teeth!

5. I think this worry is normal for a lot of people. But when you have been walking around all day, get home, look in the mirror and discover a MASSIVE spot right in middle of your forehead/your chin/on the end of your nose. Why would the friend you were talking to all day not tell you? Do they want you to look scary?!

6. Since living in a ground floor flat right on the edge of a main road in town, I obsess that a car will veer off the road and crash into our living room! Oh dear what is becoming of me.

My worried face...
Any of you guys have an odd worries you obsess over? Please say yes and that I am normal haha!

And the worst blogger ever award goes to.....

Me! haha, oh dear. Sorry guys, has it been a week already?

Over the past weekend I attended my dear friend Tom's photography exhibition at the Frameless Gallery in London (which I have spoken about here and the fund-raising his family and friends have done for it). The exhibition mainly focused on his experiences travelling around the world (from France to Tibet) and political and world issues (such as the student riots in London and the Egypt riots). Tom was an amazing photographer, friend and person and I miss him so much. But the exhibition was wonderful representation of his work, skill and compassion.

I wore my new River Island Dress.

The quote behind is taken from Tom's diary and says-
"When I look at the world around me, I am concerned. One has to imagine oneself as detached from the planet and looking down at everything that is going on. Humans do terrible things to each other everyday. Wars tear countries apart and make arms dealers rich. Misguided kids knife each other for things like mobile phones."

(There is a little bit more but I forgot to take a photo of it to transcribe it all, I'll try and find out the rest.)

Tom's good friend and flatmate from London took photos of the event which I have featured in this post. You can find his website here.

While I was at home for the rest of the weekend I rediscovered my great-grandmother's book. It's an autobiography, which is simply but beautifully written I think (family pride much?!). Its interesting to learn about the time she was alive (the end of Queen Victoria's rein to the late 1980's) and I think it's lovely to be able to learn about my great-granny even though I never got the chance to meet her.
Anyone else have any interesting family heirlooms?

This week I have also been reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Which I am really enjoying, but it's giving me cravings for a massive amount of American South food, like biscuits and gravy, caramel cake and divinity fudge!

Sorry for this miss-mash of a post I'll try and do a more structured one later this week :)

P.S. I handed in my dissertation in on Tuesday. Yay I don't have to think about F. Scott Fitzgerald and the American Dream anymore!!! :D

Dressing Dilemma!

Guys, I need your help! Seriously!

You see, I went into town yesterday to get my misbehaving eyebrows tamed and on the way home I happened to pop into River Island. Now don't worry I only checked out the sale items and didn't spend much at all (£30) and both items are amazing.

I got these trousers which I absolutely adore already the only problem is I don't know what to pair them with. The only thing I can think to wear with it is a strappy top, which isn't all that exciting...
So I need a bit of advice of what else I could wear with them.

I love this print so much!!!
I also got this beaut of a dress (which I have seen a few other bloggers rave about and I can see why!):

I think I'll have to be careful though cos if I have to bend over in it as I might flash my bum! I think I must because have an usually long body or something since it definitely isn't my legs haha!

What do you think? Have you guys got any advice on what I can pair with my new fabulous trousers?

Five Favourite Bloggers!

I thought I'd do a post about some of my favourite blogs at the moment!

1. Fox And Feather
Run by the uber fashionable Leigh. Leigh has regular outfit updates, weeks in Instagram and DIY posts. Most recently she did a DIY Galaxy print which is so impressive and how can you not be jealous of her wardrobe!

2. Paperbacks + Postcards
Amy is a beauty blogger and gives great honest reviews on products, if she has given something the thumbs up I know it must be good! Amy is super friendly too and is a prominent commenter and tweeter, which I always enjoy!

This blog is run by my 'real life' friend Fred. He has only just started but his posts are always funny. Incredibly ironic and satirical, especially about his teacher training :P

Mona's post never ever fail to make me laugh, seriously this girl is hilarious. She has a great mix of posts, from outfits to her love life! She will have you in stitches!

5. Amelia's Allsorts
Run by Zoe Amelia, this blog has a little bit of everything for everyone! I'm especially loving her posts about the Model's Own Hedkandi nail varnishes!

Check these blogs out... ok?! Good.

Early Night?

Oh my goodness I'm so tired!
My life is just full of dissertation at the moment (sorry if dissertation posts are getting repetitive) I'm not going to moan about how much my dissertation is ruining my life like some people do because is isn't really ruining my life. It's just making me very tired and unsociable!
Instead of going out in the evenings being a fun person, I have been watching TV, painting my nails and reading the boyf's graphic novels.

The Apprentice- BBC 1, Wednesday 9pm

Model's Own, hedkandi Range- Hedonist
(sorry about terrible phone photo!)

The Boys graphic novel

Now I'm off to bed, who would have thought writing essays would knacker you out so much!

Keds Floral Champion

This week I've been wearing my Champion Keds. The original Ked Champions were created in 1916 and have remained a style icon for almost 100 years. Rather than going for a plain pair I decided to get my Champion Keds in an eye-catching pink floral material, from the Keds Spring 2012 Pool Side Collection.

This week I haven't done much except walking back and forth from my flat to the library getting on with my dissertation and these shoes have been so perfect for that! Really comfy and hardwearing and have put a spring in my step with their floral design, just looking at them makes me think of spring :D

All of my outfits this week were pretty casual as I like to be comfy when I'm writing thousands of words!

I've been using my favourite backpack this week too- everyone should have a backpack! Can't wait to crack out my bag and Keds in the festival season :)

Do you like? Do you have any shoes that have made your spring a bit more spring-like?!

Keds Too Cute Shoes!

A couple of weeks a go I went on a bit of a shoe spree while I was out shopping with a friend and because I love them all so much I thought I'd tell you guys about them :D As I got a few pairs there will probably be a few posts about them haha!

The first pair are some Keds. I always wanted a pair of Keds but I could never decide what pair to buy, but when I saw these I knew I had to have them! They are called Too Cute Woven and are from the Lawn Party collection, (a mix of Keds heritage and 2012 style). I chose the black pair but they came in Lime Green and Fuchsia as well.  I wore them last week when it was lovely and warm (unlike today!) with a flippy dress.

I am loving them so much! Because they are black they pretty much go with everything, but the crochet woven style makes them a little bit different from the original Keds. As I expected Keds are uber comfy, I could and did walk around in them allllll day long!

What do you think? Do you like? Do you own a pair of Keds?

Next week- a very fancy floral pair of Keds!

Oh Dear Dystopia...

(Just to warn you this a post about books, not clothes, shoes or make-up haha :P)

I seem to have gotten myself obsessed with reading dystopian fiction when I'm supposed to writing a dissertation on the F. Scott Fitzgerald and the American Dream...

I blame The Hunger Games, yes I know EVERYONE is raving about them right now, but I can't help but jump on the book bandwagon (not the film bandwagon, sorry wasn't impressed). I read all three novels in less than a week, so I think that explains how into them I got!

After reading The Hunger Games, I decided to check the online oracle that is Wikipedia and see what other dystopian fiction I could read and found out that I read quite a few already! When someone would mention dystopia fiction I would think back to my first year at uni and reading The Time Machine by H. G. Wells and even though I did enjoy it, it didn't quite tickle my pickle!

My favourites are these three-

Noughts & Crosses Series by Malorie Blackman.
It depicts a future in a world we would recognise but in some parts is radically different. Society is divided into two, with Noughts and Crosses making up the population. Noughts are white people, and they are considered inferior and Crosses are black people, and they hold the power. The novel tells the love story of a Nought, Callum and a Cross, Sephy and the difficulties they face.
I read it when I was a teenager and it really made me think about racism and how damaging it is and it's got a great teenage love story and what girl doesn't like that!

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
I'll just use the blurb on the back of the book as it describes it better than I could!
"In the world of the near future, who will control women's bodies?
Offred is a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead. She may leave the home of the Commander and his wife once a day to walk to food markets whose signs are now pictures instead of words because women are no longer allowed to read. She must lie on her back once a month and pray that the Commander makes her pregnant, because in an age of declining births, Offred and the other Handmaids are only valued if their ovaries are viable.
Offred can remember the days before, when she lived and made love with her husband Luke; when she played with and protected her daughter; when she had a job, money of her own, and access to knowledge. But all of that is gone now...."

And my most favourite of all- Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde
The first in the "Shades of Grey" series. The story takes place in Chromatacia, an alternate version of the United Kingdom where social class is determined by one's ability to perceive colour. I think this is probably my favourite because its not a totally depressing description of the future, don't get me wrong some things are bad otherwise it wouldn't be a dystopia, but Fforde is such an amazingly witty author, I was actually doing the lols when I read it.

Really sorry if this post has bored any of you, but I read a lot and wanted to share some of my favourites. Don't worry my next post is going to be about shoes. Promise!
Oh and if you have any suggestions of what I should put on my reading list, let me know, books make me happy :)

AWOL

Sorry for my absence again this week! It was the last week of uni before the Easter holidays, so I have been handing in assignments and having last minute meetings with my dissertation tutor! So I haven't really got much exciting to blog about...

I have a random outfit of what I wore on Friday night when the boyf and I went to a friends birthday night out. I brought the shirts at the last minute that day from Primark for £10, which I think is pretty decent as the beading on the collar is really cute. Oh and it's sleeveless too, so perfect for the upcoming spring/summer nights (hopefully!).

Shorts- Ragged Priest
Shirt- Primark
Cardigan- Dorothy Perkins
Shoes- Vans

But never fear I have an exciting blog post coming up later this week, involving something all girls love- SHOES!!! :D
